Canine Boarding

“The Prairie Preserve” at Indian Prairie Animal Hospital provides a spa-like boarding experience for your dog, which includes stress reducing tranquil music, as well as aromatherapy to fill the air with soothing essential oils. Because being away from their familiar environment can be stressful, we strive to give your dog that “home away from home” feel with lots of love, attention and calm surroundings.

Canine Boarding Requirements: Each dog is required to have a current physical examination with one of our doctors prior to boarding. In addition, we require proof of current vaccination. These vaccines include: Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Leptospirosis and Bordetella. These vaccines must be given at least 48 hours prior to boarding. Due to the nature of play, we do require any pet over the age of 6 months to be spayed or neutered. Lastly, we require proof of a negative fecal test being done within the last 6 months.

All dogs are walked to potty at least 3 times daily in our large, fenced-in yard. At that time, they also get one on one play time to stretch their legs with our staff members.

For all avian boarders, we require a negative Psittacine Tri-Plex Panel.

What should you bring?

Indian Prairie can provide Purina Veterinary Diet EN dry food, but if your dog eats a special dry, canned or prescription diet, we ask you bring your food for their stay. If your dog is currently on any medication, please keep in the original labeled vial or packaging. Do not transfer meds to a separate container, plastic bag or pre-wrap in food/pill pocket.

The Prairie Preserve welcomes your dog’s favorite toy or blanket, however we ask that you leave all beds at home since we are unable to wash it if it is soiled. Indian Prairie Animal Hospital provides a complementary elevated cot in each suite accompanied by a cozy blanket to keep your dog comfortable during their stay. We also provide stuffed toys and tennis balls that can be used to entice your dog to run & play with through the yard!

If weather prohibits outdoor group play, dogs will have individual play time with a staff member indoors.

Doggie Daycare Requirements: Each dog is required to have a current physical examination with one of our doctors prior to scheduling daycare. In addition, we require proof of current vaccination. Their vaccines include: Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, and Leptospirosis. If any one of these needs to be updated, they must be given at least 48 hours prior to day play.
