Indian Prairie Animal Hospital and Foundation Trainer Erin Vest welcomes all eager pet parents to help make a difference in their dog’s life! We look forward to providing your family with information to bring awareness about proper animal health, behavior, and psychological well-being in hopes of making the overall quality of life for the animal and its owner the very best it can be.

Erin has over 10 years of experience as a traditional and exotic animal Veterinary Technician with years of additional experience in Animal Behavior, Training & Physical Therapy. She has one of the most extensive resumes, working with all species of animals in different career fields. With her love for animals and experience combined, you can feel confident that your animal is in the absolute best care possible. As Erin puts it, “I help owners establish a healthy, balanced relationship with their animals based off mutual respect and trust.”

Puppy Foundation Course

Puppy Foundation Training meets once weekly every Wednesday from 7-8pm. This is a 6 week course that consists of basic training commands and manners: We will work on “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “come,” “stand,” “leave it,” “out,” leash walking, and problem prevention. Training methods are based around positive reinforcement methods to help establish a health balanced relationship with dogs and their owners based off mutual respect and trust.

This class is for puppies 8 weeks to 1 year. Please no retractable leashes.

Graduate Foundation Course

Graduate Foundation Training meets once weekly every Tuesday from 7-8pm. This is a 6 week course that will work on perfecting the basics “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “come,” “stand,” “leave it,” “out,” and leash walking. We use a variety of positive reinforcements other than just treats. We will discuss problem prevention, how to establish basic manners and work on distraction training to develop a relationship with owners and their dogs based off mutual respect and trust.

This class is for dogs that previously graduated from an accredited puppy class. Must provide certificate of completion if your dog did not graduate from our program. Please no retractable leashes.

Revolving Foundation Class

Revolving Foundation Class meets once a week every Saturday from 2-3pm. With this class you can schedule to come as often as you would like as you pay per class you attend. We start each class by reviewing & practicing a “controlled walk” followed by learning and reviewing basic commands, “sit,” “stay,” “down,” “come” while discussing appropriate manners. There will be a Q & A at the end of each class. No prerequisite to take this class. This class gives any dog owner an opportunity to take a class and see if our training programs could be a good fit for their family as well as a refresher course for anyone who has already taken classes before. Please no retractable leashes.

Requirements

In order to enroll in any training course or class you must pre-pay for the services prior to start time. All dogs must be current on the following vaccines: Distemper/Parvo, Rabies (4 months of age & older), Bordetella & Leptospirosis. You must provide proof of a negative fecal test done within the last 6 months.

All dogs 6 months and older must be spayed or neutered in order to enroll.

If you are not a current client of Indian Prairie Animal Hospital, a waiver must be signed, proof of your dog’s health requirements must be submitted and training must be pre-paid prior to start time.
